Newly ordained priest moves to new parish

Deacon Kevin Connolly

NEWLY ordained, Fr Kevin Connolly is on the move to Aghadrumsee at the end of this month.
Taking up his new post of priest in residence he will support pastoral ministry in the Clones cluster; parishes of Clones, Roslea and Killeevan-Currin-Aghabog. Through his ministry he will work alongside Parish Priests in the Clones cluster.
Fr Connolly was ordained on Sunday 30 June, decades on from the most recent ordination of a priest from the Donagh area of Co Monaghan. He was also the first priest to be ordained by the new bishop of the Clogher Diocese, the Most Reverend Larry Duffy.
Speaking at his ordination Bishop Duffy said it was a day of ‘great joy’ for the Diocese of Clogher.
“So often we pray for vocations to priesthood and religious life today, God is answering our prayers. We offer our thanks to the Lord.”
Concluding the homily he said, “Kevin the people of God in the Diocese of Clogher await your arrival. God is preparing them to welcome you. Go forth in the knowledge that God walks with you.”
Also on the move is Fr Kevin Malcolmson, presently a curate in Enniskillen. He will move to minister in the parishes of Aghalurcher and Galloon covering Lisnaskea, Maguiresbridge and Newtownbutler. For the past year he has been curate at St Michael’s Church and before that he served for two years in Monaghan and Rockwallace.
Posting to social media following the announcement the parish of Aghalurcher extended a welcome to Fr. Kevin. St Michael’s Parish added it was sorry to see Fr Kevin leave. Well wishes were extended for his future ministry in Aghalurcher and Galloon.
The clerical changes will also see a Kenyan priest join the Clogher Diocese. On Monday this week Bishop Larry Duffy announced that Fr Nicholas Maazo of the Kitui diocese in Kenya, Africa will become priest in residence in Castleblayney and support ministry in the nearby Monaghan area.
