Spurs fans making do with home comforts

LIFELONG Spurs supporter Sammy Shaw is gutted he can’t get to Madrid to watch his side play in their first Chamions League final.
Ballinamallard man Sammy Shaw admits it’s too costly to travel there and get a ticket.
“It’s the biggest game in the club’s history, but it has just been priced out of most people’s reach.”

However, he still intends to enjoy the game on a comfortable stool either in the Poacher’s Bar in the village or Ballinamallard United clubhouse.
“I’m very excited about it. It’s the biggest game in our history.
“Hopefully we can win it, after all we were the first British team to win a European trophy.
“The City game was great and we can score goals at any time. If either team is down two at half time you still know the game isn’t over,” said Sammy.
Meanwhile, former MLA Tom Elliott jas been a fan of the Lilywhites for as long as he can remember.
A member of the Ballinamallard Spurs Supporters Club he travels to North London to watch the Spurs several times a season.
He contemplated heading to Madrid for the final but felt it would have been too difficult to get a ticket and travel arrangements would have been too difficult.
He’ll be watching the final in the Ballinamallard United clubhouse with a squad of other Mallard supporters. It will be Reds and Lilywhites mixed together for a really lively atmosphere.
“It’s a big day for us. It’s a bit like Ballinamallard Utd reaching the Irish Cup final, nobody would have expected Spurs there a few months ago or even after the first leg of the semi final.
“In fact I was watching the semi final and at 2-0 down
I decided enough was enough. I was demoralised and went out to the cattle, but something clicked and I turned on my heels and went back into the living room for the second half.
“So glad I did. It was wonderful after that and I hope Spurs can do the same on Saturday night.
