Penalty points for doing 92mph

A DRIVER who was detected doing more than 90mph in a 60mph zone has been given six penalty points.
Darragh Monaghan (37) of Corraghy Road, Altnaponer, Brookeborough was not present for his hearing at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday, but submitted a guilty plea to a charge of speeding via post.
On January 6th, at around 8pm, Monaghan was detected driving at 92mph in a 60mph zone. Reading from the defendant’s letter to the court, District Judge Michael Ranaghan said Monaghan had said he was the sole bread winner and the sole driver in his family.
Stating Monaghan had been informed he faced a driving disqualification, Judge Ranaghan said on balance penalty points would be sufficient. He endorsed six points on Monaghan’s licence, and fined him £180.
