Dig in… Lovely locusts on the menu at lads’ night out

FANCY getting stuck into a three course a la carte menu taken straight from the ‘I’m a Celebrity’ jungle?
For starters you could opt for Jacobs cream crackers topped with crackling crickets.
Then for your main course perhaps a tasty chilli chocolate dish, garnished with a long tailed scorpion.
And if that wasn’t enough, to wash it down you could enjoy a strawberry trifle topped with fresh cream and laced with juicy mealworms.
Well these were just some of the tasty treats on offer at a recent bush tucker trial held at the Fountain Centre in Kesh.
The event brought local men from Ardess parish together, with visitors from Donegal Church of Ireland also joining in for an evening of fun that promised not to be missed.
The night was themed around the popular ‘I’m a Celebrity’ TV show.
The two losing teams were faced with a bush tucker trial. One person from each team was nominated to sample the bug based treat. For the bush tucker trail there was locusts on honey flavoured chocolate, Jacobs cream crickets, Ant Bessy’s cheesecake, scorpions on chilli white chocolate, moth worms on Philadelphia cheese and a mealworm trifle.
A great night was had by all who attended and after the bush tucker trial everyone enjoyed a Chinese, which was undoubtedly more appealing than the bug based treats!
Fortunately for some the unique bug focused menu was around for one night only and we have been assured that normal service has since resumed at the Fountain Centre.
