‘R’ driver was clocked at 75mph

AN Enniskillen woman has escaped without a driving disqualification after being caught speeding with no R plates on display.
Tanya power (26) of Kilmacormick Drive, Enniskillen appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court charged with being an R driver exceeding 45 miles per hour and having no R plates displayed.
On September 28th, police were driving on the Ardess Road, when they stopped a vehicle travelling at 75mph.
When stopped, they found that the driver was an R driver and there was no R plates on display in the car. Power then showed the police the R plates in the glove box, and solicitor Michelle McVeigh said that her client accepts that she was driving 30mph in excess of what she should have been, and that she had removed the R plates.
She also told the court that her client had taken her car to the garage, and was told she should be bringing the rev up to 3,000, and that her friend had called the garage to find out what gear the car should be in.
Ms McVeigh explained that it was oversight which led to her driving with no R plates on display.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan said that he was not going to disqualify the defendant at this time, and gave her five penalty points and fined her £250
