Fight goes on at public meeting on Roslea GP services

Last month’s meeting over GP service provision in Roslea

THE fight for Fermanagh’s local health provision continues as another public meeting is being held in Roslea.
Fermanagh Save Our Services are hosting a public meeting in Roslea this Thursday at 8.30pm in Roslea Community Centre as the campaign group pledges support to local people taking legal cases to challenge the withdrawal of local GP service.
Speaking in advance of the public meeting Caroline Wheeler of Fermanagh Save Our Services said: “Our campaign has been leading the fight against the ongoing withdrawal of services across Fermanagh for more than a year now. We have organised this follow-up meeting in Roslea at the request of the local community who feel betrayed over the loss of local GP services. In this the community is isolated geographically with minimal public transport provision the impact is even more dramatic.”
Caroline encourages everyone to attend the meeting and challenge the failure to provide access to primary healthcare services in the courts.
“The chronically sick and disabled act provides assurance that a service cannot be removed from those falling in these categories without proper consultation and assessment of need. So despite the fact that the community has been let down in the past it is vital that they continue to fight to demand access to the most vulnerable to a local GP service.
“At Thursday night’s meeting we will provide a presentation on how the current crisis in GP services and the threat to acute services in Enniskillen has resulted from the policies adopted by the Department of Health under consecutive Ministers”, she added.
