Award helped push savings over £2m

IN what is a rare development for any enterprise, Knockninny Credit Union Ltd has publicly applauded the ‘Fermanagh Herald’, as a result of its being awarded, the ‘2015 social enterprise of the year’ for pushing its savings beyond the £2m mark.Knockinny Credit Union

The chairman of the board of directors, Joseph (Joe) Brown, in a letter, said the resultant high profile had had a very positive impact on new membership applications, and ‘even more noticeably’, on savings deposited and loans issued, ‘both of which have reached unprecedented levels’.

The letter expressed his company’s gratitude for being awarded the ‘2014 social enterprise of the year’, and for the sponsorship from Fermanagh Trust and the Fermanagh Herald, through advertising).

The letter reads in full: “The board of directors of Knockninny Credit Union Ltd would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude on being awarded the title of ‘Social enterprise of the year 2014’ and the associated most generous sponsorship from The Fermanagh Trust.

“This has given the Credit Union great publicity and recognition for the services that are provided to the local community.

“It has increased our community standing and raised our wider profile, particularly through the recent 4-week advertisement campaign which you have so kindly run free of charge for us.

“It has helped to create a buzz with members, directors and staff alike. This has had a very positive impact on new membership applications, and even

more noticeably on savings deposited and loans issued, both of which have reached unprecedented levels.”

The letter went on: “As you are aware, we are a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation whose co-operative ethos means that our members are at the heart of all that we do.

“The more members who make use of the Credit Union, the greater the benefit to the whole community.

“Thank you for the role which you have played in our promotion and the morale boost you have given which has helped increase our enthusiasm to drive Knockninny Credit Union for- ward.”
