DESPITE not making it to Tralee it was a weekend to remember for Fermanagh Rose Aoife McCann at the regional festival in Portlaoise.

The Maguiresbridge girl, who is a law student at Queen’s University in Belfast, was joined by a large crowd of supporters in Portaoise at the weekend, including her sister who flew in from England, as well as other family, friends and her boyfriend. Aoife was second on stage on Sunday night, where she was interviewed by Rose of Tralee host Daithi O’Shea.

Reflecting on an “amazing experience” Aoife would recommend the competition to any young woman in the county.

“I have made 55 new friends from all over the world and now have a house to stay in from all over Ireland to Texas to Dubai to Australia.”

Our Fermanagh Rose has a whole year ahead to enjoy and raise awareness for her chosen charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
