Men charged with attempted murder after man stabbed in late night attack

Police arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder.

A MAN has been left fighting for his life after he was stabbed during an incident in Augher late last night (Thursday).

The 40-year-old man was attacked during the stabbing incident in Castlehill Gardens, Co Tyrone, shortly after 11pm on Thursday night.

His condition has been described as critical.

Two men have been arrested on suspicions for attempted murder.

Detective Inspector David Hallaway has said: “Police have arrested two men aged 23 and 29 on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Castlehill Gardens, Augher just after 11 pm last night, Thursday 21 May.

“The man sustained a stab wound to his stomach following an altercation in the street. His condition is described as being critical.”

Detective Inspector Hallaway continued: “ I appeal to anyone who was in the Castlehill Gardens area of Augher around 11 pm last night, witnessed the altercation or has any information they believe would assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives at Dungannon PSNI on the non emergency number 101.”
