A BELOVED Mother-of-two and grandmother tragically lost her life in hospital last week, less than two years after losing her husband.

Yvette Lunney (nee Francis), 46, of Inishkeen Close, Enniskillen was involved in a one vehicle car crash on Belmore Street, Enniskillen at around 7pm on Wednesday evening, March 25. Mrs Lunney was, described as being in a ‘serious condition’ at the scene and was then taken to the South West Acute Hospital, where she died on Friday morning. Belmore Street was closed for a number of hours after the crash as police remained on the scene. Work has since taken place to repair the damaged window at the shop.

It is not thought that the Enniskillen mother died as a direct result of injuries sustained in the one vehicle crash. Through the PSNI the family of Yvette Lunney explained the deceased organs were donated to help others.

It is the second tragic death in the family after Yvette’s husband Kevin died suddenly, of natural causes on October 8, 2013, aged 48.

Yvette Lunney, had worked at Mount Lourdes Grammar School as part of the canteen and cleaning staff since 1999 and in recent times, worked alongside her daughter Kiara.

Principal of Mount Lourdes Grammar School Maureen McKeever paid tribute to the ‘much valued’ staff member.

“We are all shocked and saddened at the sudden death of a much valued member of our staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with Yvette, her daughter Ciara, also a member of our staff, her daughter Colleen, grandson Callum and Yvette’s extended family.”

Yvette was a much loved mother to Kiara and Colleen and grandmother to Callum. Her funeral Mass was well-attended at St Michael’s, Enniskillen, on Monday and was conducted by Monsignor Peter O’Reilly. He spoke about Yvette and her late husband Kevin and said: “It reminds us that we know neither the day nor the hour”. He also welcomed the representation of students and members of staff from Mount Lourdes, including those who provided the music for the service.

In his homily Mgr O’Reilly explained that Yvette was born in Scotland  in August 1968 and that her mum was originally from Enniskillen. When her dad died, the family moved back to Fermanagh. “She met Kevin as a teenager; he wasn’t much older than her.
“And so began some 32 or 33 years of friendship and love,” he added.

The funeral Mass was followed by burial in Cross Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were carried out by John McKeegan, funeral directors.
