Beauty Blog: Big hair, don’t care vibes

I’VE always been a fan of hair styling tools like curling tongs and straighteners since my early teens.

Hair technology has come a long way from the Babyliss Steam Straightener which worked similar to an iron and always managed to burn your scalp.

Now, there’s a vast selection of multi-functional hair tongs and straightners available on the market.

I’ve recently come across the InStyler three-in-one hair tool. It’s basically a rotating iron that straightens, curls, adds volume and shine.

They sell for around £70, which is pricey compared to other curling tongs but they appear to be among the best on the market that I have used.

There are quite a few hair styles that can be achieved from using hair tongs – it’s not all about curls but adding volume and waves to your hair that allow you to create many different looks.

Irish blogger So Sue Me demonstrates on her YouTube channel how to use the InStyler.

Firstly, always remember to use heat protection spray before you use the curling tongs to help limit the damage caused to your locks.

Applying treatment oil, like Moroccan Oil, to the middle and ends of your hair will give it a shiny and glossy look.

Firstly, Suzanne (So Sue Me) recommends using the Redken spray on the separated hair sections first to hold the curls in.

Then wrap your hair around the barrel and allow the barrel to rotate as well as moving it slightly up and down for around 15 seconds.

She pulls the barrel right up to the root of the hair for around 10 seconds to create volume and lift the root.

The smaller barrel creates tighter curls and the bigger barrel creates long, loose waves.

Once finished, use hair spray on all of the curls and use a padded brush throughout the hair.

The InStyler website explains the method behind the creation: “The secret to the InStyler lies in its rotating heated polishing cylinder, along with four rows of precision-aligned bristles. Your thermal shield, which snaps easily into place on your InStyler, protects your skin from the heat.

“When you run the InStyler through your hair, the first set of bristles gently sorts and separates each individual hair strand. Then the rotating heated polishing cylinder gently glides over your hair, smoothly polishing, straightening, and styling each strand. Finally, the second set of bristles puts the finishing touch on your hair, leaving you with shiny, silky, gorgeous hair.

“And because of the patented design of the InStyler, your hair won’t get crushed and baked by the super-intense heat of normal hair straighteners or hair curling tongs. In fact, the InStyler uses less heat than traditional hot tools – and still manages to get better results.

“That’s because the gentle heat works together with the rotating motion of the polishing cylinder to polish and care for your hair strands one by one, so it doesn’t need extreme heat to get hair that is shinier, bouncier and full of lift and life.”

Put it on your Christmas wish list or it make it a perfect gift for a friend or girlfriend.
