A PSNI spokesman confirmed they had received a report of criminal damage in the Castle Balfour area of Lisnaskea.

“It was reported that graffiti had been sprayed on a wall in the area. The incident was reported to Police on (Sunday) September 21st.”

The graffiti was still visible on Saturday morning, on the castle wall behind the ironwrought ‘Trasna Way’ sign.

The green paint slogans were sprayed in two places, in more visible writing on the wall itself and on a wall in a recess, clearly a popular meeting point.

There are stone ‘stairs’ which showed signs of usage, and all around there was evidence of drinking having taken place, with squashed cans, bottle tops and broken glass embedded in the clay and the grass.

In relation to a separate incident elsewhere in Lisnaskea, the PSNI also confirmed a report of an assault in the Bank Brae area of Lisnaskea in the early hours of Sunday, September 21st.

“One man sustained facial injuries as result of the incident. One man was later arrested and released on bail pending further enquiries”, the spokesman added.
