His sister, Katie (Kennedy, nee Mitten) told the Fermanagh Herald that her brother was ‘one of a kind’ who will be missed by all he came in contact with.

Katie described how, after spending over four years in Australia, Daniel came home to surprise her at her wedding last year – and how he doted upon his young niece, Scarlett.

“He was in ‘Oz’ for four and a half years and loved every minute of it,” Katie said, “He was in Australia and he worked and partied hard – anyone that met him in Australia, has said they’ll never forget him. He made an impression no matter where he went, and people always remembered him because he had the biggest smile and the biggest, darkest brown eyes ever.”

She added: “There’s so many comments online. It shows how much he was loved and cared for. He had a lot of friends and he enjoyed himself.”

Reflecting on her wedding last year, when Daniel came back to Enniskillen to surprise her after over four years, Katie said: “He surprised me for my wedding. Obviously I hadn’t seen him for four and a half years; I thought he’d be missing from the big day, but he came home to surprise me for the wedding.

“It made the wedding, it made the wedding having him there.”

She went on: “He decided to stay home because of my daughter, the first grandchild, the first niece and he absolutely adored her. Any time he had a free moment he spent time with her. She was two on the ninth of September. He made her birthday cakes, he enjoyed baking and cooking.”

Daniel was also a big music fan.

“He loved his music. He used to make up music and put it on the internet. His girlfriend Paula (McGale) bought him these beats headphones and from the minute she bought him these, he never took them off.

“Paula was the love of his life. She meant so much to him and he meant so much to her.”

A past pupil of Enniskillen Integrated Primary School, Daniel later attended Jones Memorial Primary School.

He then attended Devenish College and was a welder by trade.

Daniel is survived by his father, Gary, mother, Karen, and siblings: Charlie, Jane and Katie.

He is also survived by his girlfriend, Paula, and his three nieces: Scarlett, Caitlyn and Natasha.

His funeral takes place at Rossorry Church at 2pm on Thursday.
