VOTES… Christopher Hall from Fivemiletown

THE mother of Big Brother contestant Christopher Hall has called on the people of Fermanagh to help her son win the show.

The popular Channel 5 and former Channel 4 programme is in its 15th season and Christopher is now in the final after entering on June 5.

Speaking to the Herald his mother Marie said Christopher has done her and her family proud in the two months he has been adorning our television screens.

“We’re very proud,” she explained. “He has exceeded all our expectations and those within the community. We’re so proud because Christopher has stayed true to himself. Before he went into the house the advice I gave to him was; ‘Be yourself and everyone will love you’ and I can see he has followed that advice. He has been himself all the way through, there has been nothing fake, nothing superficial about him.”

Marie, who has watched the show every night ‘without fail’ admits it has not been plain sailing for Christopher in the house, but is thankful housemates are now beginning to treat him, with greater affection and respect.

“It hasn’t been an easy ride, it has been rough and bumpy along the way, but he hasn’t caved in under the pressure and given the circumstances he has worked through it very well.

“It wasn’t nice to see him being treated like a mug or with disrespect, but I’m very pleased he’s now standing up for himself.

“He started as everyone’s mug, but now people are seeing that he has something to say. He’s not being thrown around like old boots. The people who gave him trouble are now beginning to think maybe he’s the real deal. It is nice to see finally the people have recognised him for what I have known all along. It is finally shining through, they’re thinking ‘you know he’s not a bad guy, he is the real deal, the real McCoy. It has taken them long enough to find it out, but now they have.”

Marie, who lives in Fivemiletown revealed she has been blown away by the support she has received from those locally and has called for one final push to see her son crowned Big Brother champion 2014.

“There has been a lot of support in Fivemiletown and Fermanagh. He’s had massive support from local shops, cafes and restaurants and a lot of posters are going up. People are generally very good and have been wishing him well and we’re very grateful of that and those who have voted for him so far.

“It is amazing when something like this comes about how much you value your friends and how nice people can be.”

She continued: “It is vitally important for people to lift the phone and vote to see the local lad win. We don’t want it to be a case of so near and yet so far. We think he can win, we’re very optimistic. With the support of the people and if everyone gets behind him I think he can do it. It’s like an election campaign and the people of Fermanagh and Tyrone need to get behind him. Every vote counts. He has done everything that he can in the house and now he is depending on us.”

The Big Brother 15 Final is on Friday evening at 9pm and Christopher is one of six housemates who remain in the house alongside Ash Harrison, Ashleigh Coyle, Chris Wright, Helen Wood and Pavandeep (Pav) Paul.
