Things going to plan for Whitey

SO FAR SO GOOD… Whitey Anderson

Three games in to pre season and all seems to be going to plan for Irish Premier League outfit Ballinamallard United.

They opened on Friday evening with the Gary Bownes Memorial Cup against Dungannon Swifts.

Nathan Cashel scored the only goal of the game and the only downside was the arm injury to James Turley.

The midfielder came down heavily in a tackle and dislocated his elbow and fractured a bone in his arm.

Manager Whitey Anderson said, “It’s very disappointing for James. We wanted to play him to see how he would cope with Premiership opposition. Hopefully he’ll be back before too long.”

Ballinamallard moved on to Derriaghy on Saturday for their second build-up game.

They came out with a 3-2 win with Stuart Hutchinson, Ryan Campbell and Raymond  Foy all scoring.

Now this week they travel down the road to NFC Kesh on Thursday evening for a 7.30 kick off at Connolly Park.

Then on Saturday it’s off Irish League Championship One side Coagh before another away trip on Tuesday night at Dollingstown, newly promoted to Championship Two.

The good news is that striker Anthony Elding returned to trining last night and will be available for his first game at Kesh on Thursday.

“We’re all looking forward to seeing him. He’s already done pre-season at Cork City and he will be joined by midfielder Johnny Laverty.”
