The Western Trust was the first Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland to implement this ban by going completely smokefree on 12 March 2014.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on site for patients, service users, staff, members of the public and contracted workers.

The Enniskillen company are backing the smokefree message by displaying Western Trust smokefree air fresheners in all their taxi’s to ensure their customers are continuously reminded of the policy.

Mary Campbell, Western Trust Smoking Cessation Nurse Specialist said: “We are delighted to receive support from the local taxi companies here in the West. Providing a smokefree environment is extremely important for the health and well-being of everyone and to have this message carried through from the taxi companies is a great incentive to the Trust.”

Western Trust have worked with a Health@Work Programme. Sabrina Dunne, Health@Work said: “It is very encouraging to see employers across the west supporting their employees adapting healthy lifestyle behaviours.

“These programmes are beneficial for both the employee and workplace, leaving staff feeling valued therefore more productive.”
