Organised by Fermanagh District Council in partnership with Fermanagh based Emergency Services, the FEAR event, which features trail running, cycling and kayaking, is now open for entries.

On October 5 this year, FEAR will push endurance athletes to their limits along a gruelling 74km route, taking in some of West Fermanagh’s most dramatic, breathtaking and remote scenery, including the stunning Magho Cliffs and rugged beauty of the Big Dog Forest.

Event organisers have also announced that this year they are adding to the FEAR adventure race portfolio by introducing FEARless, a sprint distance event taking place in and around the National Trust’s Castle Coole Estate, on Saturday 4 October 2014.

Chairman of Fermanagh District Council, Councillor Bert Johnston, said: “Fermanagh District Council is pleased to work with partner agencies to deliver the FEAR and FEARless events in Fermanagh. We were delighted with the interest in the inaugural FEAR event in 2013 and hope that this year’s events will attract even more endurance athletes from near and far.”

FEAR competitors can choose to participate in one of two race routes; a 35 kilometre or 74 kilometre course. While FEARless, a sprint distance event, is set at 21 kilometres.
You can register to enter either FEAR or FEARless or both by visiting www.FEARmanagh.com. A reduced entry fee will be applicable for entries submitted before August 31. Entrants must be aged 18 years old and over to participate in these adventure races.

The event is being organised by Fermanagh District Council in partnership with the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, North West Mountain Rescue Team, Royal National Lifeboat Institute, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
