Ruck ‘N’ Roll returns to Mullaghmeen

Ruck N'Roll DP9

Some action from Ruck N’Roll back in 2012

Enniskillen Rugby Club has always had a great reputation for merging the sporting world and the music world with great success.

The hallowed grounds of Mullaghmeen, though perhaps more familiar with the clatter of football boots and the chant of rugby songs, is also no stranger to the tap of many a pair of dancing shoes and Bohemian Rhapsody has brought its fair share of nights to a close at the club.

This weekend, 28th/29th, the club will be opening its doors to appreciators of quality music from Fermanagh and beyond as they celebrate Ruck N’Roll 2014. In its third year at the rugby club, Ruck N’Roll is now well established as Mullaghmeen’s premier music festival, and organisers are keen to recapture and build on the energy and enthusiasm which has surrounded the event from the start.

One of the organisers explained a bit more about the festival.

“The people of Fermanagh love music, be it trad, blues, rock and roll, country and everything else besides.

“Unfortunately we only have one stage and one weekend in which to cram the music in, so we can’t sample every genre, but we are confident there is more than enough of a mix to keep even the most discerning music fan entertained.

And if they’re not happy with that, we will be having a small open mic session on Sunday, open to all of our festival goers.”

For those who prefer to know who they will be listening to before they arrive, check out the Ruck N’Roll Facebook page.

BANDS

And for those who can’t get to a computer, just a few of the bands to feature will include  The DMs, Nerdmore, Crystal Catcher and Mommas Slippers. Headlining this year will be Sidewalk Boogie, unleashing a bit of blues across the green pitches of Mullaghmeen.

On the acoustic stage you can look forward to a little bit of Philthy, Jamie Johnson Uisca Nua and more besides.
The festival will be opening its doors to the public at 1pm on Saturday 28th.

For £10 (payable on the door) music lovers will be granted access to a weekend of high energy tunes, even higher energy bands and all the usual special drinks offers. New to this year will be some touch rugby on Saturday and even a little yoga on Sunday, so make sure to pack a pair of trainers and some sweatbands in with the tent!
