Enniskillen holds first parish fun day in more than 50 years

FOR the first time in over 50 years St Michael’s Parish in Enniskillen is holding a parish Fun Day.

The fun day will be held on Sunday, July 6 at the Mount Lourdes sports field – the site of the old St Fanchea’s school (enter by Mill Street).

There will be a wide range of events and activities during the afternoon for all of the family, including entertainment and kiddies shows run by DJ Scruffy Duffy and his cartoon characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Peppa Pig, Barney, Mickey Mouse and Minnie and other surprise characters.

Activities include bouncy castles, slide, face painting, sports activities (including egg and spoon race, tug ‘o’ war) and much more.

For those who are feeling peckish, there will be a BBQ with hot dogs and burgers, and tea and tray bakes will also be for sale for those with a sweeter tooth.

First Aid demonstrations will be organised by St John’s Ambulance Service and children are asked to bring their teddies along for the teddy bears’ picnic (Teddy Bears will be entertainment by Jo Jingles).

Admission to the event is free which runs from 2-5pm.

The Scout Band will also be in attendance to open the event along with the Enniskillen Jet Cheerleaders.

There will be a number of stalls selling goods which will include a selection of toys, jewellery, jams, Pottery, plaques with messages on them and ‘Make and take’ Clay workshops run by Jumping Clay.   Stall holders are welcome to attend but they must book a place in advance (fee per stall £10).

St Michael’s Family Fun Day promises to be an exciting afternoon with a packed programme of events to suit all of the family.

Weather permitting, this will be a wonderful way to start the summer holidays.  It is hoped that this event, which could become an annual event, will be a great way to bring all of the community together in support of St Michael’s Parish, Enniskillen.

Anyone wishing to supply tray bakes or cakes, or offer their services volunteering on the day, should contact us.

The priests of the parish would like to thank all of those who have already contributed to making this day possible, particularly those who generously offered sponsorship through the donation of food etc. or offered their time or services in kind.

This event is open to everyone and we will look forward to seeing you all there.
