VAGABOND…Taken during last year’s G8 buildup in Enniskillen

The Enniskillen Photographic Society opened their annual exhibition last Thursday May 15 in the Ardhowen Theatre.

As a conclusion to the society’s calendar of events, the annual exhibition is an opportunity for members to enter their best images, with a selection of approximately 75 prints framed and mounted for display.

The judge of this years exhibition was Bob Morrison, who is well-renowned within the Irish photographic federation and travelled from Mullingar for the evening to cast his eye over the images and make his final selection.

The winning image for 2014 was selected as ‘Vagabonds and Bodhrans’ by Ciaran Reilly and Ciaran was awarded the Fermanagh District Cup in recognition of this achievement.

Previous winners of this Cup, which was first presented in 1984, include talented local photographers Anne Cassidy, Terry McCartney and David Robertson.

In opening the exhibition to members and friends of the Society, Chairman Dave McDonald praised the quality of the images on display and congratulated both the more experienced and newer members who had received recognition for their work on the night.

The winning images are: Mono Portraiture: Ciara Maguire – ‘Peep’; Mono Open: Raymond Millar – ‘Hobby Horse’; Colour Portraiture: Ciaran Reilly – ‘Vagabonds & Bodhrans’; Colour Open: Tom McCarthy – ‘Sunset On The Lake’; PDI Portrait: David Roberston – ‘Gate Crasher’; PDI Pictorial: Raymond Millar – ‘Arabic Rooftop’Theme: Dave McDonald – ‘Folk Park’; Novice Mono: Jackie McDonald – ‘Mirrored7’; Novice Colour: David Morris – ‘Misty Morning Crom’

The exhibition can be viewed at the Ardhowen Theatre until Friday June 13 during normal opening hours.
