A CHARITY tractor run inspired by the McDonagh family from Brookeboro, who lost their father Sean two years ago takes place this Sunday.

The Sean McDonagh Memorial Tractor Run will be held this year on Sunday at 1.30pm starting from the Brookeborough Sports Complex.

The event, which celebrates the life of Sean McDonagh, marks his second anniversary.

Last year, over 240 vintage and modern tractors and vehicles took to the road with Sean’s wife, Fiona, and son, Shane, leading the procession to Moans Cross and back again on board Sean’s trusty Massey Ferguson 35x.
The run last year raised a phenomenal amount of money for the Kidney Transplant Unit in the Belfast City Hospital, reflecting the respect and support for the McDonagh family in the local community and neighbouring counties.

This year the committee has chosen Cancer Focus NI and its Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness campaign as beneficiaries of the memorial tractor run.

Gareth McElduff, community fundraiser for Cancer Focus NI, said, “I am so happy to be a part of such a thoughtful fundraiser, and extremely grateful for the McDonagh family and friends’ support for Cancer Focus this year.”
He added, “The money raised will go towards our breast cancer research in Queen’s University which has already announced an important  breakthrough in BRCA 1 research which could signal new treatments for women at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

“It will also go towards helping to fund important services such as our bra and swim wear fitting service, counselling and support groups, art therapy and our cancer awareness programmes which are available in schools, workplaces and in the community all locally in Fermanagh.”

The fee is £10 per vehicle to enter. Aimee McDonagh, Sean’s daughter, will be on hand with a commemorative rosette for all drivers and the committee will serve tea and refreshments in the hall afterwards.

There will be a raffle in the hall with a variety of brilliant prizes generously supplied by local businesses.
Vehicles are urged to get there early and be careful on the roads to ensure another great day is had by all.
