Music Focus: Darkest Era finish up UK tour

Darkest Era

Darkest Era played eight shows as part of a UK tour

LOCAL metal band Darkest Era – complete with a few new members – have just returned from a UK tour that saw them play them play eight shows, including a show in London.

The band has went through a number of line-up changes over the past few months, yet have kept busy, including playing their biggest ever show in April of this year.

On vocals, the band features ‘Krum’, on guitars Sarah Wieghall and Ade Mulgrew, on bass Daniel O’ Toole, and on drums Cameron Glass.

“It was eight shows across the UK starting in Scotland and winding right down the country.

“We were out with two other bands, namely Dendera and Gloryhammer who were both excellent,” explained Ade.
“It went really well, thankfully,” he went on.

“We had played in six of the eight cities before so we had some of our own fans come along to those shows and we made a bunch of new ones too. We try to tour as much as we can so it was rough and ready at times to keep costs down but that’s rock n roll!”

The band played in Dundee, Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol, Leicester, London and Bilston.
“The crowd response was fantastic, particularly in those two cities actually, where we got a sense of a definite growing fanbase which is awesome.

“We were playing some new material which has been working really well too.”

And, it has been quite a busy year so far for the band. In April, the band played their biggest ever show in front of around 2000 people at Ragnarok Festival in Germany.

While in July, they supported Finnish band ‘Wintersun’ on the band’s Irish shows.

“We have a new album in the works which we are very excited about, and hopefully we can release some news about that very soon,” Ade concluded.

“Things will be quiet over the winter as we burrow away to plot and scheme, but we’re looking at a spring release with subsequent touring so watch this space!”

NOW IN its eighth year, Bundoran’s ‘Sea Sessions’ returns with a strong line-up in June.
