Ban Fracking Fermanagh… at their benefit gig in ‘Charlie’s’: Donal O’ Coffey with three personalities synonomous with Fermanagh Ciaran McMenamin, Pat O’ Doherty and Claire Falconer also Charlie McClintock.

A BENEFIT gig to mark Global Frackdown Day took place on Saturday night in Charlie’s Bar.

The gig, organised by Ban Fracking Fermanagh, followed a day spent distributing leaflets to members of the public.

A large crowd gathered for the event, with music from Sarah Weighell, Pipeline, Jailbreak and Wizdom and the Lunatics.

Claire Falconer, of Ban Fracking Fermanagh, called the gig successful and thanked those who attended.

“The level of interest and support shows that the community wants to send a clear message to our elected representatives that neither Fermanagh nor its citizens will be fracked,” she said.

“Campaign supporters from all over Fermanagh and further afield enjoyed stellar entertainment and great craic.

“Special thanks goes to Pat O’Doherty of O’Doherty’s Butchers on Belmore St, producers of Fermanagh Black Bacon, who through his generosity ensured that our event took place and was indeed a resounding success. We also wish to thank the many local businesses who donated monies and prizes for the raffle.”

Ban Fracking Fermanagh will be holding further events between now and the end of the year in preparation for a major campaign in 2014.
