Review: Pat back in town

Pat McManus returned with a bang

DERRYLIN-BORN rocker, Pat McManus took a stop in Enniskillen over the weekend, packing out Charlie’s Bar on Friday night.

Along with his band, The Pat McManus Band, Pat went through a range of tracks – both new and old – along with bandmates Paul Faloon, drums, and Marty McDermott, bass.

But, prior to proceedings from the main-man, Fermanagh trio, Yellow Car No Return, warmed up the crowd with an impressive set of their own.

Featuring Luke Burns on vocals and bass, Eoin Parkinson on guitar, and Paul Gallagher on drums, the band were guests of Pat himself, with the guitarist later offering up personal praise during his set.

And when he did appear, Pat didn’t disappoint.

The local man, of Mama’s Boys fame, showed just why he has remained at the top of his game for so long, with his newest songs receiving as much of a response as those from the past.

When the main set closed up – and the crowd begged for more – Pat invited Yellow Car No Return guitarist, Eoin Parkinson, up on stage for an encore performance of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Purple Haze’.
