FEBRUARY 17 marks the 15th Fermanagh Herald Sports Awards in association with Belleek Living and following on from the hugely successful black tie affairs that have been held in the Manor House Hotel over recent years, this year promises to be even bigger and better.
Although 2011 may have past into the shade, we can still bask in the glories of our sports stars’ exploits over the year. With such a rich tapestry of sporting excellence to choose from we are asking you, our readers, to help us decide on a shortlist for the various categories. There is sure to be a lot of talent vying for the 10 awards on offer on the night.
‘The Special Achievement Award’ is open to sportspeople with an intellectual,
physical or sensory disability who have overcome enormous obstacles to
become the best that they can be.
The Senior and Junior Sports Personalities of the Year will be selected as always from our 12 monthly Sports Personalities. In the coming weeks you will get your chance to vote for your selection.
The Senior Team and Youth Team of the Year awards are open to teams who have achieved outstanding success in 2011. Consistency, sportsmanship, character and success will be important factors for you to take into consideration
when deciding on who you think deserves to make the shortlist for Senior
and Youth team of the Year.
The ‘Excellence in the International Field’ award is open to individuals and teams who have competed with distinction on the international stage in 2011; for teams and individuals who have helped put Fermanagh on the map and who act as outstanding ambassadors for the area.
The ‘Manager/Coach of the Year Award’ is a straightforward award with many worthy recipients. The eventual winner will have proved that they have the Midas touch by getting the best out of those whom they coach.
The ‘School Team of the Year’. Through their sporting endeavours, those who make the shortlist for this award will have enhanced school life during 2011. They will also have proved that they have what it takes to compete and win with the best and represent their school with pride.
So, get voting to help us compile a shortlist of nominees for our glittering night!
