This Saturday, Fermanagh ladies will make the trip to Fr Hackett Park in Augher (2pm) for their Ulster Junior Championship Final with Derry.
After losing last year’s decider to Down, coupled with a very disappointing finish to the Division Four league which saw Fermanagh miss out on a league final spot and promotion, this year, Saturday’s decider is a game Fermanagh will very much want to win.
Despite finishing top of Division 4, Fermanagh played Carlow in the semi-final at the end of March and were cruelly denied the victory by a goal deep in injury time, losing by a point, 2-8 to 1-10.
“There’s been a lot of hurt after how the league finished,” said Conor McGovern, who is part of the Erne management team.
“We deserved to go up, we won six games, drew one, and lost one – so if you’re looking at form, we should’ve gone up.
“I suppose hurt drives you on. We met two weeks after the Carlow game and we drew a line in the sand and to use the hurt to push us forward.”
Fermanagh need a win to get their season back on track, with the All Ireland series looming in a few weeks – Saturday is the perfect place to start.
