Enniskillen’s Paul McManus and Jacqui Kennedy are preparing to take the leap of faith for Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Fermanagh fundraising group, in the charity’s annual Santa Skydive.

The two brave participants will don a Santa suit and take to the skies for the ultimate adrenaline fuelled experience of a tandem skydive.  The duo will be skydiving from a staggering 13,000ft to raise funds for the charity.

Looking ahead to his skydive, Philip said: “Earlier this year I took part in the charity’s abseil alongside a few of my colleagues from O2 here in Fermanagh which was such an incredible experience, but when I heard about the skydive, I just jumped at the chance to take part.

“I know that it will be such an amazing feeling when I land and even if I get nervous, all I have to do is think about the wonderful care and support that cancer patients in Northern Ireland receive at the Cancer Centre and that will get me through.”

Jacqui suffered from cancer ten years ago and her experience has  inspired her to take part in the skydive.

“In 2006 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and attended the Belfast City Hospital for my treatment. I am doing really well and I don’t think that I would still be here without the great support of the City Hospital and Friends of the Cancer Centre. The treatment and care I received was second to none and this is my way of giving back.

I have always wanted to take part in a skydive so when the opportunity came up to take part and support Friends of the Cancer Centre, I literally jumped at the chance,” said Jacqui.

I would encourage anyone from Enniskillen and County Fermanagh who wants to take on the ultimate challenge of skydiving to sign up now and support this fantastic charity.”
