CASTLE PARK Leisure Centre must rank as one of the busiest spots in the Lisnaskea area offering a fun and friendly atmosphere and a host of activities for its many users.
The centre provides activities to suit all ages with children, adults and the elderly catered for. With their state of the art facilities, the staff at Castle Park Leisure Centre go above and beyond for the community.
Castle Park Leisure Centre Manager, Damien Maguire is proud of the facilities that the centre provides the residents of Lisnaskea.
“We host a variety of programme to suit everyone in the community. We have something for children, adults and the elderly. We also get involved with local clubs in the area. One of the newest addition to the centre is our soft play area. There were a lot parents having to leave Lisnaskea to use facilities in Enniskillen and surrounding areas so now there is a play area on their doorstep. It is also great for birthday parties and caters for children from 18 months.”
The activities provided by the centre include summer schemes, youth club, gymnastics and ju jitsu for young people. Initiatives such as Men on Move, bootcamps and buggy buddies are available for adults while chair based exercise and other activities are available for the elderly community members.
“We are a long established centre and we are trying to make sure there is something for everyone and the activities are always well supported.
The centre is part of the community and it is much more than just a leisure centre. It is a neutral venue where everyone is welcome and we host all sorts of events,” said Damien.
One user of the centre, who said he’d rather not be named, said he had his life transformed since beginning to use the services available at the gym.
“I will soon be turning 70, and the centre is vital to my health as I suffer from COPD. I go to the gym and take part in a new programme of different exercises five day of the week. I started this year and I feel better now than I did when I was 50.
“Without the centre I wouldn’t have the discipline. The staff are brilliant, first class. They are very welcoming and they will chat to you and they are all lovely,” said the avid centre user.
The centre gives everyone the chance to get involved in the community and has became the heart of Lisnaskea. The centre is currently gearing up for a busy few months as the back to school season is one of the busiest times of the year.
“The place is busy and there is always a buzz about with people enjoying themselves. There is no  reason for the community not to be involved in the activities in the centre as we are providing what the community wants and we react to what people are interested in by offering the popular programmes,” added Mr Maguire.
