Ovarian Cancer is close to Ciara Branley’s heart.

She lost her mother, Norma Branley, in December last year to Ovarian Cancer and now wants to make people more aware of the illness and raise much needed money to help fight it.

“I want to do the walk in honour of her memory as she meant so much to us as a family and also to her close friends and colleagues,” said Ciara.
“I want to bring more awareness to this type of cancer so that as many people as possible know about the silent killer,” she added.

Ciara, her eldest daughter, explained that her mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014.
“It was hard to know what the symptoms were and more people need to be aware of it,” she said.

Now she wants as many people as possible to become involved in this walk on July 1st, just two days before the date of her mother’s birthday.
“We hope we can raise a sizeable amount for the charity and also the local charity Cancer Connect who were very good to my mother in her time of sickness and more importantly to keep the memory of my mum alive,” said Ciara.

The walk starts from the Lakeland Forum in Enniskillen and takes the route of the 10K run through Castlecoole, over Ardhowen Hill and back to the Forum via the playing fields.

Afterwards there is a buffet in Blakes of the Hollow.
