PSNI-01-460x306

A 43-year-old man has been arrested after herbal cannabis worth more than £75,000 was seized by police in the Enniskillen area.

The drugs were found in a car stopped by police on the Belfast Road in Tamlaght at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: “We stopped this vehicle as part of a wider investigation into the activities of what we believe is an organised crime gang operating in Northern Ireland.

“The cannabis, which we estimate to have a street value of approximately £76,000 was located inside the car along with a small quantity of class A drugs believed to be cocaine.”

A house in Claremount Street in Belfast was searched and a number of items were seized for examination.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure added: “We will continue to carry out proactive search and arrest operations like this one as part of our ongoing efforts to dismantle the infrastructure of those organised crime gangs who try to ply their evil drugs trade in Northern Ireland.”

Anyone who believes they may have information about the sale or supply of illegal drugs can contact police on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
