Samantha hoping for Glor Tire glory

Samantha Breslin

STAR…Samantha Breslin

LISNASKEA’s Glor Tire star Samantha Breslin is urging the people of Fermanagh to get behind her as she continues her quest to be Ireland’s newest country voice.

The talented teen is nervously gearing up for next month’s live shows in the TG4 talent show searching for Ireland’s newest country and western music star.

Samantha (19) hails from a very musical family and is one of ten children. She has been singing since the age of ten and started playing the fiidle two years later.

A past pupil of St.Comhghall’s College, she had been planning to study Environmental Science in Belfast but deferred her place until next September in order to pursue her musical passion.

“I really hope that I have a career in music instead as it is my true passion! However, if it doesn’t work out, I will definitely go to college and maybe do some music on the side.”

Samanatha has pre-recorded three shows at The Quays Bar in Galway, one of which aired in January, followed by two more on March 9th and 23rd ahead of the start of the live shows on March 30th.

“I am very nervous about the live shows as there will be a lot more pressure put on me because I know I cannot make any mistakes!”

Despite being a dedicated fan all her life, Samantha is delighted that stars including Nathan Carter have made country music cool again:

“I absolutely love country music and I always have from a very young age. It was very embarrassing to have an interest in country music before Nathan came on the scene. Everyone would have laughed at me, especially my friends at school but I didn’t care. It certainly didn’t stop me from listening to it!”

Samantha said she was shocked to receive a phone call from singer Patrick Feeney telling her that he had chosen her to mentor.

“Patrick and I get on so well, I couldn’t have asked for better. I am just so grateful he picked me to do the show because I always wanted to get onto it. I would always watch it of a Wednesday night and wish that I would be a contestant one day. Little did I know I would be – it’s just so hard to believe!”

For the live shows in Galway, Samantha will be supported by a bus load of her friends and family and says the more the merrier.

“Anyone is more than welcome to come down for a bit of craic. I would like to thank everyone for all their amazing support and I definitely couldn’t do it without them!”

You can all keep voting for Samantha until the live show on March 30th when two contestants will be eliminated.
