New boys Carrick Rangers thoroughly deserved their three points at  Ferney Park this afternoon after taking a two goal lead in at the break.
Rangers opened the scoring on the half hour when Kyle Cherry bundled the ball over the line after keeper Rouse had failed to hold Joe McNeill’s cross to the back post.
The were two up nine minutes later. This time Miguel Chines latched onto a poor Emmet Friars back pass to beautifully curl his effort around keeper Rouse and just inside the far post.
Carrick were reduced to 10 men when captain Aaron Harmon was red carded for an attempted headbut, but they raced into a three goal lead when Mark Surgenor slid in to score after the Mallards again failed to clear their six yard box.
Winger Jason McCartney have the home side some hope when he converted from the spot after 80 minutes when Lafferty was taken down.
