Ferney boys must kick on from latest defeat

Ballinamallard Utd v Cliftonville

Ballinamallard United manager Whitey Anderson knows Saturday’s home fixture against new boys Carrick Rangers is a must win for his side.
It’s the second game of a three week home sequence and the Ballinamallard supremo has already said that the side’s season starts now.
“Everyone knows that our next home game is Carrick and how important it is for us. But there is a good prospect of getting three points from this,” said Anderson who admitted he has been relatively pleased with his side’s performances so far this season.
“The only game I was really disappointed in was the Crusaders game. Our first half showing there wasn’t good.
“But I know if the players go out and play like they can then we can get a result on Saturday. Carrick will probably come and try to play the way we did against Linfield. They sit fairly deep and it will be up to us to break them down. They are a hard working side and have points in the bag already,” said the Ferney man.
Anderson pointed to a number of good aspects of his side’s play over recent weeks.
“We’ve been losing recent games by the odd goal and they have all been very tight. We must kick on from Saturday. We need a result and start some momentum,” he said.
Several of Anderson men have been on the treatment table recently, including central defender Leon Carters, who pulled out of the Linfield game after failing a late fitness test.
Carters though looks likely to be ready for the Carrick game, as will Steve Feeney, Cathal Beacom, Michael McCrudden and Aaron Patterson, who both had to leave the play on Saturday.
