THE marriage of music and fundraising is no strange feat for Mark Edwards – but the Blakes of the Hollow manager is pulling out all the stops this time.
The ‘Summer Live Lounge’, taking place at the very end of the month, brings together some of the county’s top acts under one roof.
It’s part of the Enniskillen man’s push as the new chairman of the Enniskillen Round Table.
With his new role, Mark is fundraising for the Aisling Centre in Enniskillen.
And as part of a year’s worth fundraising, Friday July 31 sees some of the best acts in the town coming together for the night time event.
Included on the bill are Atticus Finch, The Hand me Downs, Midnight Graffiti, Judas and The Engagements.
Prior to the evening, earlier in the day, musicians will perform through Enniskillen from 1pm – 3pm. And, outside the bar, from 6pm, Karl Ledwith and Niall Carberry will perform  to officially kick-off proceedings.
“Our aim is not only to raise money, but to also raise awareness of the fantastic the Aisling Centre do on a daily basis,” Mark explained, “They are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and like many other organisations face cutbacks in funding that will be detrimental to the service they provide.
“Their professional counselling service supports local people in our community to help deal with depression, suicidal thoughts and bereavement in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space.”
The one-of music event, Mark said, will showcase of the best music talent in the county.
“All the musicians have kindly donated their time for free for what will be a brilliant night of talent that will cater for everyone’s music tastes.
“We plan to have a variety of musicians playing on the streets during the day scattered along from one side of the island to the other, or as locals would say ‘between the bridges!’.
“This will take place around lunchtime and at each musician we will have an Aisling Centre collection box.
“This will be for those passers by that are interested and maybe can’t make the main event that evening, but would still like to make a donation.”
But, the main event takes place later that evening in the Atrium Bar at Blakes of the Hollow in Enniskillen.
All the bands are local and are experienced in putting on great shows and regularly play in venues across the county: “To have them all together on one night will be a night not to be missed,” Mark added.
There’s a £5 cover charge on the night, with all proceeds going to The Aisling Centre: It promises to be a great night.
