Three detections for drink driving over the weekend

PSNI-Story-

Police in Fermanagh ran a road safety operation over the weekend as part of continued efforts to encourage drivers to take more care on the roads.

Chief Inspector Joe McMinn said, “Although this was a very positive step in terms of raising awareness about road safety it is clear that a number of motorists are still willing to take unnecessary risks when driving.

“Sixteen fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers for using mobile phones despite continued warnings about the obvious dangers. Three vehicles were also seized for no insurance.

“What is even more disappointing is that my officers made three detections for drink driving on Sunday (May 17th). Getting behind the wheel of a car after consuming even one drink is both foolish and dangerous. It puts the lives of other road users at risk and it will not be tolerated.”
