Penalty win for Mallards

Whitey Anderson

Ballinamallard United 2

Coleraine 1
A controversial penalty well into injury time gave Ballinamallard United a vital three points this afternoon.
Jason McCartney scored from the spotkick after referee Raymond Hetherington adjudged Steven Douglas of handling the ball from a stinging Cathal Beacom drive.
The home side had taken the lead on 27 minutes when a Currie corner found Steve Feeney, who outjumped the Coleraine defence to head down and into the net.
Coleraine levelled on 37 minutes after a long throw wasn’t dealt with by the home defence and when the bal fell to Matthew Snoody his snap shot sneaked in at the near post past keeper Murphy.
Central defender David Ogilby was red carded on 75 minutes after a tackle on Stuart Hutchinson, but all the drama came in the dying seconds with the controversial spot kick which McCartney converted into the bottom corner.
