‘Life-changing’ tangle-free hair care

The Tangle Teezer

Our beauty blogger Catherine McCurry takes a look at the benefits of using a Tangle Teezer

‘THIS will change your life forever’, is how one of my cousins described a present she bought for a friend.

That life-altering gift came in the form of a hairbrush, but not just any I hear her say, it’s the Tangle Teezer.

Although it’s been on the market for a few years I have only recently discovered this innovative hairbrush and it seems everyone is raving about it.

Celebrities love it and now so does half of my family after most of them found it in their Christmas stocking.

This hairbrush is designed to smooth knotted hair, wet or dry, without any pulling or yanking and also prevents the pool of broken hair that normally covers your floor after brushing it, particularly when it’s wet.

It claims it’s the world’s best selling detangling hairbrush and after purchasing one last week, I have to agree.

The inventor is British born Shaun Pulfrey, a hairdresser who has been colouring hair for 30 years.

Following years of research and development he created the detangling hairbrush and presented it to the BBC show, Dragons’ Den show.

However, after asking for an £85,000 investment in exchange for a 15 per cent stake he was rejected and told it “was not a business”.

He did not allow that deter him and after persevering with his invention, he sold it to Boots stores soon after his appearance on Dragons’ Den.

It’s priced at £10.99 from Boots and although that’s a lot of money for a hairbrush, it has been worth it.

My hair is always tangled because of its thickness and length, especially after its washed.

It’s painful and time consuming but the Tangle Teezer takes half the time and is pain free because there was less tugging of the hair and less fell out. The hair brush easily glides through the hair meaning less damage caused.

Another bonus is its compact size and the colours available for both kids and adults.

I use it in the shower and use it to straighten my hair too.

A great way to improve your hair’s condition is to use Aragon oil as helps strengthen it as well making the hair softer and shinier. It’s a great conditioning treatment, tames frizz as well leaving hair more manageable.

It comes in different products and ranges but I prefer using the leave-in conditioning spray.

The shampoos and conditioners can be pricey as it is a rare and 100 per cent natural oil.

Perhaps investing in a good shampoo and using coconut oil as conditioner will be a cheaper solution.
