Ballinamallard bounced back from their thrashing at the weekend to hold title chasers Linfield at Ferney Park last night.

The Fermanagh side came from a goal behind to draw level with a Colm McLaughlin goal on 70 minutes after Blues had taken the lead late in the first half.

Ballinamallard manager Whitey  Anderson described it as a ‘magnificent performance’: “We were good value for a point tonight at least.”

Linfield scored six minutes before the half time whistle when Andy Waterworth collected a loose ball 25 yards out and shot at the Ballinamallard goal. Keeper Feargal Murphy seemed to have the ball well covered at the base of the post, but somehow the ball squirmed out of his hands and over the line.

The leveller came in the 70th minute when left back McLaughlin linked well with Lafferty on the left to get in behind the Linfield backlne to fire a great low show past keeper Glendenning into the far corner.

Murphy, Crilly, McLaughlin, Stafford, Feeney, Courtney (McCartney 76), Currie (Campbell78), Kee, McKenna, Elding (Martin 68), Lafferty
