Dolan picks up another win

Belcoo darter Brendan Dolan had an up and down week winning the Players Championship, but going out in the first round of the World Grand Prix.

Dolan, the world number 12 won the players Championship with a final win over Scotland’s Gary Anderson, but was later beaten by the same player in the City West Hotel in Dublin.

He hit good form beginning the tournament with a win over fellow Irishman Keith Rooney 6-4 before following up with wins over Denis Ovens, Connie Finnan, David Pallett and Kim Huybrechts as well as Joe Cullen in the semi final.

Dolan shot an average of 101 when securing a 6-3 win over Cullen and started the final well, winning the first two sets.

Dolan then slipped and let the Scot back into the game, but eventually won out when he won the next three legs and go 5-2 ahead.
He secured victory with an 89 as Anderson missed out on a 170.
