STUDIO SPACE for artists is available in the historic surrounds of the old post office in Clones.

Two artists, Eileen Ferguson and Joanne Behan have opening new studio spaces for artists in the old post office in Clones.

Both artists currently have their own studios in the building and a local sculptor also operates out of the same building.

“We just want to highlight that the studio space is there. We offer affordable space for artists and we will be offering a variety of workshops for artists and the local border community” said Eileen Ferguson.

The post office stopped using this building as a post office a number of years ago but Eileen explains the building is in good condition and is regularly used for things such as Clones Arts Festival.

Speaking earlier this summer Eileen said “We are hoping to have a launch of the building as art studios during the year and we are hoping to run some classes such as print making, drawing and painting and sculpting. And also we would like to run some masterclasses for professional artists,” continued Eileen who said they are well situated on the border to attract people from both north and south.

Eileen and Joanne were both part of the recent ‘Harnessing Creativity’ project which aimed to connect the creative sector with the business sector.

“Our idea to link these two sectors together – and also aiming to bring in tourism to the area – was the Clones Art Studio.

Eileen lives in Glaslough, but originally hails from Edinburgh.
