Richard Heap hosted captain’s day at Castle Hume golf club on Saturday 5th July.

The course was in fantastic condition thanks to the hard work put in by Kevin Nolan and his team of green keepers.
The golf played matched the condition of the course.

As with tradition the captains’ day competition was stroke play and the man in 4th, Gary Johnston may have thought he was in with a chance carding a nett 63. In 3rd place also carding a nett 63 was big hitter Matthew Keenan.

Matt started with birdie but gave it away again with a double at the second but with steady golf Matt turned 5 over.
The back nine was better with a score of two over for the 14 handicapper and sealing third place. In 2nd place with a brilliant nett score of 58 was Rory Rafferty, the 21 handicapper playing some great golf to hit the turn having played only 39 strokes, Similar strong play on the back nine and Rory carded a 79 gross taking second spot.

The winner playing of a handicap of 17 and also carding a nett 58 was Niall Cox.

With a handful of pars on the front nine and only one slight slip up with a double on the par five 3rd Niall turned having played 40 strokes. On the back nine Niall followed up with 7 pars 1 birdie and 1 bogie to take first place.

Saturday evening the prize giving and celebrations began with Captain Richard thanking everyone involved with making the day a success.
