Clogher Valley this year are determined to go one better

Clogher Valley face the biggest game of their lives on Saturday when they take on Skibereen in the All Ireland semi final.

Valley coach David Black has been on this road before, having reached the semi final last year but were beaten by Iniscorthy. This time round he wants to go all the way.

“We were beaten by Inniscorthy at this stage last year, a game we felt we should have won. We’ve looking to put right those wrongs in this one,” he said.

On Saturday they got a good platform with a 45-6 win over Cooke.

“The boys have been playing good stuff of late, scoring 35+ points in recent games. Yes. we’re playing well, but more importantly the players are training hard with the All Ireland in mind. We had a free Saturday two weeks ago and it certainly helped the preparation. Since then we’ve had a number of good sessions.”

“The players really have a hunger this time. They want to go one further and make the final, but it is a big ask,” he added.

The squad will travel down to Skibereen on Friday night for the 2.00 pm kick off on Saturday.

“This competition is definitely something we are targeting. We know little about the opposition, but we’re in good spirits and playing well. Our confidence is there, but league form will have no bearing on this one. We just know exactly what we have to do and have a game plan which we have been working on for a few weeks now.”

“We’re looking for a good result and we’re travelling with the hope and expectation that we will get a good result,” said coach Black.
