36 jobs as town gets a boost

The Lakeland shop which has opened in the Erneside Shopping Centre

ENNISKILLEN shoppers have been given an early Christmas present with the news  that two new outlets have arrived in the town.

Lakeland, specialists in Kitchenware opened in Erneside Shopping Centre on Monday creating twenty new jobs, while the beleaguered High Street has received a timely boost with the creation of 16 new jobs through the opening of new store Savers.

Lakeland  opensed its doors to the  60th store on Monday and is the UK’s leading kitchenware specialist, offering a range of over 4000 products from quality kitchen utensils and storage containers, to liquorice!

Store manager Kristine Balfour noted that after two days of trade the early signs are good.

“At just over 3,000 sq. ft. the new store is smaller than the one in Belfast, but perfectly formed and ideal for shoppers looking for a friendly efficient service in bright surroundings.

“We are already seeing a brisk trade and we’ve only been open 2 days we expect this to continue and are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new.”

Savers Health and Beauty are adding to their 236 strong store network throughout the UK by opening a store at 23 High  Street, the site that was formerly Robert Dickie and Sons Ltd.

Some 16 jobs have been initially created by the new store , with further recruitment to potentially take place later in the year.

Project manager Mike Lake believes the store will be an excellent addition to the High Street.

“I have absolutely no doubt it will provide a good service for the people of Enniskillen.”

Local Councillor Debbie Coyle believes the new store and the creation of new jobs can only be a good thing.

“I have only just walked past Savers so I haven’t had a chance to really look in, but anything that is going to create jobs in the town is great and is to be welcomed.

“Jobs for local people are hard to come by, so the new ‘Savers’ store should be a boost for us. And of course we’re all looking for a bargain these days.”

The store will officially open next Wednesday, October 17.
