Staying on for another term

FR BRIAN D’Arcy, CP, who is rector of the Graan Monastery, Enniskillen is to remain as Superior at the Graan Retreat.

This news came to light at the weekend for Fr D’Arcy himself, and, there was a jubilant reaction when he it announced personnel changes to those attending Masses at the Graan on Sunday last.

A popular priest, Fr Brian, a native of Belnaleck, has been Superior at the Monastery for the past 12 years. He finished his third term in May, and, since then, it was uncertain if he would be moved elsewhere, or continue his role in Enniskillen.

The decision on his and other personnel, was approved last week by the provincial and the Council of the Passionists.

Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald after the news broke, Fr D’Arcy said: “I’m delighted, I didn’t think I would be staying. They were very kind, they said that I was doing a good job and they’d like to keep me here.”

He went on: “I had a position in my local community, and they didn’t want to lose that. I only found out at the weekend. I was quite content to move on if that’s what they wanted, but they said that they’d be happy to keep me on.”
