Residents express concern at busy golf course/school junction
CONCERNS by residents along Castlecoole Road, Enniskillen about the increased speed of traffic along that road which leads to a golf course and a National Trust property, have to be taken on board by the PSNI.
However, due to the fact there have been no recorded traffic collisions there over the last three years, traffic calming measures have been ruled out.
The road in question exits on to a busy junction on the Tempo Road, past the Model Primary School.
At last week’s Fermanagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership meeting, the vice chairman, Mandy Brown tabled a question on behalf of residents for senior police officers to respond to.
She said that since traffic lights were erected at that junction, residents were very worried at the lack of signs and the increased speed of traffic along Castlecoole Road.
“Apart from the danger to residents, there is the entrance to the Model PS, as is evidence by the use of the school in the morning and afternoon for the collection of children, and the early afternoon for the after-school club.”
The residents said the road was ‘substantially’ used by Enniskillen Golf Club throughout the day, in the early hours and at night.
