Published poets
PUPILS from Maguiresbridge primary school are now published poets after creating an anthology of poems.
Their work features in a publication by the Community Arts Partnership. It recently published, “Local and Vocal”, an inspiring collection of poems written by school children as part of the Poetry in Motion Schools Project.
In addition to the published anthology, pupils will also have their voices recorded for an accompanying CD.
Pupils from the P6 and P7 classes contributed to the anthology and, P7 teacher, Willene Hadden was delighted her class were involved in such a great project.
She commented: “The Poetry in Motions Schools project develops the creative abilities of pupils and enables their poetic voice through language and image.
“This is achieved through workshops conducted in schools by published/producing poets. These facilitators help to foster creativity via the spoken and written word. The poems are compiled into an anthology which is published yearly.”
