'He's holding up well'
THE parish priest of Drumlane in county Cavan, where the Quinn family home is located, spoke to the Herald about his pastoral visit on Monday morning to Sean Quinn jnr in Mountjoy Jail.
“It’s an astonishing set of circumstances that his family find themselves in, but he is of the view that his wife, Karen, will be able to cope.”
Fr Comiskey, who was previously a curate in Kinawley, married the couple in May this year.
“He is coping quite well and he’s preparing himself psychologically for the weeks and months ahead. Of course he’s physically very strong and has inherited a lot of his father’s characteristics. For one thing, he is strong willed.”
Fr Comiskey explained that he would be visiting Mr Quinn on a regular basis under special visiting arrangements for clergy.
“It will be my responsibility to see him from time to time, and, while I haven’t spoken to his wife yet. I am encouraged by what I have been hearing. I know her family are very supportive of her, and Sean himself is of the view that she’s a strong young woman.”
