Get ready for 10 days of non-stop entertainment
THE Lady of the Lake Festival, Irvinestown, now in its 34th year is the largest cross community festival in the North of Ireland. The festival begins on Friday July 13 to the July 22 and promises to be 10 days of music, craic and entertainment.
The theme this year for the festival is the Olympics and was chosen by the two primary schools in Irvinestown.
With the London Games starting only a week after the festival ends, it is a very apt theme and should ensure some real creativity come the annual fancy dress parade on Thursday June 19.
There are any amount of ideas the children and adults can do to get dressed up for the parade, from Greek mythology to the different cultures of countries competing in the Olympics to some of the Olympic events like back Volleyball or the Olympic circle logo.
The festival opens with the selection of the Lady of the Lake, the most closely guarded secret in Ireland. Who is it?
You will have to be on the street at 8.00pm to find out. Irvinestown hairdresser Brenda McNulty was crowned 2011 Lady of the Lake and she will hand over the crown on Friday to her successor.
