Canavan to remain as Erne boss
Peter Canavan will continue as manager of the Fermanagh senior team next year. The Tyrone legend has come to an agreement having met with the county board over the weekend.
Earlier in the week, Canavan had spoken to the Herald citing that the players ‘do need all the support they can get’ and was adamant that ‘serious progress’ had been made.
Following an All-Ireland defeat to Cavan much had been made in regards to his future, however, this recent news shall put an end to the speculation.
The statement read:
“Senior Officers of Fermanagh County Board met with Senior Team Manager Peter Canavan as part of the annual management review process.
A very constructive meeting took place in which concern was expressed regarding misleading press interpretation of comments made by the team manager following Fermanagh’s exit from the championship.
Following this review, Fermanagh County Board are pleased to announce that Peter Canavan will be managing the Fermanagh Senior Football team next season.
Fermanagh County Board would like to thank Peter and his backroom team and the players for their dedication to the County in 2012 and look forward to the 2013 season.”
