Young woman killed in road tragedy
ENNISKILLEN police have appealed for information following a single vehicle road traffic collision near Pettigo in the early hours of Friday last, 18 May in which the driver, 21 year old Gemma McHale from Aghyaran lost her life.
A police spokesman said the PSNI received the report of the collision at approximately 1am.
“Anyone who noticed a red Peugeot 306 in the Letter Road area around this time is asked to contact police in Enniskillen on 0845 600 8000,” he said.
It has been reported that Miss McGale’s car struck a bridge.
Gemma was one of two children of Kieran and Siobhan McHale who are employed at St Caireall’s Primary School in Aghyaran. She was a student at the University of Ulster, Coleraine.
She was returning home from Mayo, via Pettigo at the time of the accident, having taken the Letter Road, just before Boa Island.
She had been visiting her sister, Joanne, in Mayo. It is believed that Gemma had stopped in Belleek to text her sister to say she was nearly home.
